luna park: the coney island of sydney
June 22nd, 2012
And it’s the weekend again! Today was a good work day. I was productive, had a Zambrero burrito for lunch, a corona as we were wrapping up the day and a handful of laughs throughout. After arriving home a group of us went out to Luna Park a simple fun night out and taking advantage of a good 2 for 1 special.
Luna Park is the the Coney Island of Sydney. I have never been to Coney Island, but I’ve watched Uptown Girls and there’s no better description. You are welcomed by a FREAKY clown face, the rides are old and not very thrilling, and it keeps true to it’s circus/boardwalk feel.
To our surprise, the place was empty, so we took advantage and rode every ride with little wait time. We even rode slides in the fun house and got a cone of chocolate ice cream from the parlor. Dan and I played games to try and win some plush dolls from the booths as well. I won an orange doggy doll, Dan won a rainbow caterpillar. We traded. I named the plush Minkus, like the kid from Boy Meets World. We finished up by riding the Ferris Wheel and called it a night.
After being busy from work all week, it was nice to go somewhere that brought out the kid in me.
